Holiday Season Ending

As this Holiday Season and 2012 comes to an end and I review all the ordeals and happiness, I am so thankful for support of my ever caring family and now a new group of great ladies. Some of which I have met previously and some I had never met before this past year. These ladies have become some of the greatest friends I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
I have had some low points over the past year, one being my bike accident and some of the happiest days. This group of ladies has been there for me throughout all of these, some in both. We have shared some of the funniest experiences and some great stories with each other. It doesn't matter where we go or what we do, we have fun together. I know we have made bonds with each other that will be hard to break.
Also at this time I would like to take time to thank my family. My husband and children have been my greatest supporters. They have been there through thick and thin. They have picked me up up and held me up, lol. I love them with all my heart.
As we head into a New Year I would like to take time to wish all of my family and my great new friends a Healthy and Happy New Year.  As well as a long warm to warmer safe riding season this year.
As we move forward make sure to take time to look back.

Spreading The Sickness

Many friends and family know that this is the time that many sicknesses are spread around. With this Holiday Season of family visits and many gatherings in close quarters a sickness can be easily spread. While our in public we usually protect ourselves with little "tricks" we had learned either from our mothers or have picked up over our lifetime of learning. So as we press forward into the new year there are several in each family that are sick. To prevent further spread of your sickness you should remove yourself from the event of the day. It may take one or two days but if everyone did this there would be less germs spread.
So my advice to any of you who feel a little under the weather please feel free to give yourself a day off to rest. You will feel better and I'm sure everyone in your family would feel better with and for you. Also if your kids are sick, give them a day to 'feel sick' too!! They will return to school in better health also!!
So as our new year approaches I wish for a happy healthy one for all those in my life no matter how small or how large their role!!

Christmas sickness

I have been burning the candle at both ends for some time now and now I do not feel well. Has all the rushing etc. caught up with me or am I really sick. Only time will tell.
I became unwell yesterday afternoon feeling as though I could projectile vomit on everyone. I excused myself from visiting and returned home. I took some gravel and went to bed. The much needed rest felt great. But now I am up and afraid to eat or drink anything but flattened ginger ale. So where does that leave me?
When my kids were small, my middle child would get physically ill every Xmas because she was so excited. Have I become like her? Lol. Probably not.
As we head into the last days of 2012 everyone is reviewing their life and wondering what their new year resolution will be. Does everyone do this now or is that one of the older generations things?
I am hoping that this Holiday season has been great to everyone and I hope for health and happiness for all.

Merry Christmas

For all who have been following my blog the last few days you notice that there was no post for Christmas Eve. I was on the road at 9 am to pick up parcels and get one persons elusive gift. I returned home to finish baking the last minute "had to be fresh" treats for our party.
Since before I married into the 'Green Clan'  they have a family gathering at a different location ( family member house) each year. It is a pot luck affair which has grown from eight Green children to 40+ including In-Laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren . At some point we are going to have to rent a hall, lol. Only curtains homes in the family are large enough to host such an event, mine not being one of those homes.
As my children grew the "party" was the big event, mind you when they were small Santa could not be trumped. But as their belief in him waned the "Family Party" was the big event that even into their teenage years they looked forward to the event. Even as all the grandchildren grew, their partners came to the Green get-together. Although the oldest, Donald, had passed away leaving two small boys that grew up distant from the close knit Greens' came back to the Clan  as singles and now with their children. I can see the pleasure on my mother and father-in-laws faces every year to see their grandsons and now each ones family as they grow.
I know the pleasure my grandchildren bring to me so I cannot imagine their pleasure but it is openly visible each year. Each of my 'parents' (in-law) health is failing nothing to be ashamed of as they round their mid eighties. Just think of what their first Christmas' was like and compare them to today's .
As I hobbled into bed sometime close to two I was happy. As my kids got older but still at home we had Christmas morning after the big party then we all had a lazy Christmas morning. But as my kids grew up and on our Christmas Morning on Christmas Eve grew smaller and smaller. Last night it burst open with my kids and their kids until my little princess asked if she could go to bed in my bed. It was extremely nice to have everyone here again. The pride each of my grandchildren had as they wiggled and squirmed waiting for papa and I to take our jackets off so they could give us our gifts. They had picked out these presents themselves. Imagine the self control to not tell what was in those gifts.
As I woke this Glorious Christmas Morning I would like to give thanks for so many happy Christmas' in my life after writing my blog I may return to sleep for an hour or so but my turkeys are cooked and we eat at noon. I do this so each of my kids can eat with their in-laws for supper and I can collapse for and hour or so afterwards, lol.
To each and all I would like to sat MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone!!

Sleepovers with Grandchilren

As someone who did not allow my kids to sleep in my bed it is hard to adjust when small toes dig into your ribs throughout the night.  I have two grandchildren a boy and a girl. They sleep in the same room at home, but they have bunk beds. At nana's house they sleep in the same room but in a queen bed. As they went to bed last night papa laid on the bed telling them stories. My granddaughter states as she listens that she wasn't sleeping with boys and proceeded to wail at the top of her lungs. I went to check and as she tried to explain through the sobs what she wanted I had a difficult time understanding. I was able to calm her and reason what was wrong. She said I'm not sleeping with boys, I sleep with girls.  I took her to my bed and explained to papa that he had to stay in the boys bed. Eventually my granddaughter settled into her sleep.  As she did she turned sideways she stretched out her skinny pointy toes to reach my ribs. I straightened her to the same position as I was but she turned every time. After several times doing this I gave up and positioned a pillow between us. She pushed this out of the way and her toes sought out my ribs again. As morning approached my hubby came into the room and repositioned her again. Later in the morning as I woke and so did my granddaughter her body was again sideways but her toes had not reached my ribs yet!!
I love our sleepovers and I guess I will have to adjust to the toes. At least until she stays parallel to me in the bed.
Tonight I will pass out I imagine!!

Last shopping days

If you are someone who has, for any reason, put your shopping off to these last three days I wish you luck. These last three days will be the craziest days all year. People will be thinking of only what they are shopping for and not on what they are doing, like driving.  If you think that the last few weeks were terrible driving days, for accidents, wait until these days. Only careful people who are fully focused on their driving and of course others around them will make it unscathed in the traffic jams that there sure will be.
I am glad that I went out to do my last minute shopping two days ago. That day was crazy enough for me. Waiting 15 minutes plus in line-ups to make your purchase was long enough for me. As it was I met someone who shared with me as he idly wandered the isles looking for an elusive gift that he was looking for something but was not sure just what. To leave that to the last minute was just not thinking, although I think that was just it, he hadn't put a thought into his shopping to begin with.
So just imagine all the rushing in the stores with long lines and those that are frustrating wandering waiting for a gift to jump off the shelf into their arms. Much like some of the ads on tv where items speak to a person. I guess the guy I met was waiting for that to happen to him.
Advertising on tv has gone too far in that some people believe that things like that really can happen to them. If you are one to shop like that I think you should do your shopping earlier in the year. But if your budget does not allow for that, then you should have a paper and pen. You could easily jot a note and when you are able to squeeze it into your budget then go pick up the item on your page.
I think a little thought would go into this kind of shopping and some people just don't shop that way.
I would like to know just how much money was spent in these last days of shopping because some people just dish it out in hopes of getting just the right gift or gifts at the last minute.
These are all my opinions on this matter!!

Dec21

Well to all those who did not prepare for the Holidays and counted on the Mayan  prediction conning true will now have to get very very busy to catch up with the rest of us. As I post this minutes after midnight on Deccan 21, 2012.  The supposed last day of earth's existence has come and went with no event. We're there really people out there who believed all the media hype about Dec21st or was it just that?
Presently I am watching a rerun of Discovery's special about  the Mayan people and all the references to Dec 21,2012. I learned how important the number 13 was to the Mayan people, I wonder if I'm a distant relative, lol.
Since I now know I'm not going to die today I guess I can go to bed for the night.

Getting Old Sucks

I'm having a harder and harder time walking on my sore knee and the altered gait is throwing off my back. Woohoo now when I wake I have so much to look forward to each day.  Maybe I just need to do one full day in bed, lol, like that is going to happen!!
Oh we'll ill just keep hobbling along until the day comes that I just cannot stand on it anymore but if this is the day the world is going to end, lol, I will not have much more time to worry.

On a more festive note I think I will spend the day wrapping gifts and listening to Christmas songs or Christmas shows. Something has got to put me in the Christmas mood, whether I want it or not, lol.

Merry Christmas

Winter!!

I suppose it has arrived much to my dismay!!
I really do not like that dreaded coldness seeping right through all your layer, searching for your flesh, after it finds your once warm skin it transforms it. Now your flesh it riddled with tiny bumps from which hairs stand on end. After some time passes, to you it seemed like an eternity as you vibrate uncontrollably, you can no longer speak audibility from your lower jaw and its new motor. Well that is what it seems. As you start to head home you realize just how cold your feet have become because they hurt so  much due to the coldness that has seeped down into your shoes.  Now that all of your body is cold, much you cannot feel and the parts you can hurt so much!!
All you can think about is heat . No matter what kind, just warmth splashing over your body then an uncontrollable shiver brings you back to the cold. Oh shit I am still in this winter.
Who was it that said 'Winter Wonderland'?  To me Wonderland is a warm sandy beach with clear blue water. That image and my motorcycle are what keep me going through the winter!!
What about you?
